Automatic Odometer Reading has came to Simcom

Simcom now has Automatic Odometer Reading

Simcom User Management

Keeping accurate vehicle data should not require complex setups or constant recalibration. That is why Computrol Systems has incorporated the Simcom GPS/GLONASS Odometer Sender (GOS), a reliable and installation friendly solution for automatically capturing odometer readings and measuring speed and distance across your fleet. It works seamlessly with Computrol’s Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system to create a fully automated way to track vehicle movement and fueling activity without relying on manual inputs. This means your driver does not need to remember the odometer or enter it into the Simcom terminal. They simply drive up to the pump and the technology does the rest by identifying the vehicle and recording the mileage automatically. If all you need is mileage, there is also no requirement to plug hardware into your vehicle’s computer, helping you save on installation costs while keeping your vehicle warranty fully intact. Whether you operate fueling depots, manage service vehicles, or oversee data-driven fleet operations, this technology is built to make your job easier.

A Faster, Simpler Way to Track Movement

Traditional speed senders depend on vehicle wiring and calibration, which can be time-consuming and risky to install. The Simcom GOS eliminates those complications. By using data from GPS and GLONASS satellite constellations, it provides accurate 3-dimensional speed and distance information independently from the vehicle.

No physical connection to a CANbus (Controller Area Network)  system means no impact on your warranties and no recalibration required. The result is less downtime, fewer technical headaches, and far greater reliability in every environment. With the GOS automatically generating odometer and hour-meter data, it completely removes the need for drivers to record mileage manually. No handwritten logs, no paper forms, and no guessing. This reduces reporting errors and frees up staff time for actual operations instead of admin work.

Designed for Tough Conditions

From heavy trucks to remote fueling sites, the Simcom GOS is made to last. Its abs plastic enclosure is compact and designed for automotive environments, and the active antenna is waterproof and UV-protected supporting strong signal reception in any challenging environments.

Even when your vehicle moves through tunnels or dense urban areas, the GOS uses a loss-of-lock compensation algorithm to estimate distance traveled and automatically adjust once the signal returns. Your data stays complete and accurate, even when the GPS doesn’t.

Plug In, Power Up, and Go

Installation is quick and simplified compared to traditional speed senders. Four color-coded wires handle power and signal, and the antenna can be mounted either inside your cab (with the adhesive mount) or on the roof (for maximum visibility). Once connected, the GOS immediately begins transmitting accurate pulse outputs compatible with most existing speed sender systems.

A simple red and green LED indicator lets you know what’s happening. Red indicates the unit is powered and acquiring satellites; once satellites are locked, it remains solid red. Green flashes when the vehicle is moving. No complex setup, no extra hardware. The GOS also integrates cleanly into Computrol fuel management systems and AVI setups, so mileage-based data flows automatically into your reports with zero driver involvement.

Built for Fleets that Value Accuracy and Efficiency

The GOS delivers speed and distance accuracy within approximately 0.22 km/h, updating five times per second for consistent speed and distance measurements. It’s ideal for fuel management systems, data tracking, and fleet performance monitoring, where even small measurement errors can affect reporting efficiency.

Its low power consumption and compact size make it a perfect  addition for fleets that want to modernize without increasing power draw or maintenance requirements.

Why It Matters for You

If you manage vehicles or fueling sites, you already know the value of precise data. Accurate odometer readings improve maintenance schedules, reducing reporting errors, and help you understand exactly how your assets are performing. The Simcom GPS/GLONASS Odometer Sender gives you all that accuracy without the complexity. When paired with Computrol’s AVI, every fueling event and odometer capture becomes automatic. No swipe cards, no manual notes, no drivers typing mileage into a keypad, the system simply reads the vehicle, reads the distance, and logs everything for you.

It’s one less system you have to worry about, and one more reason your operations can run smarter, faster, and more reliably.

Empowering Companies with Simcom’s User Management System

Empowering Companies with Simcom’s User Management System

Simcom User Management

Simcom has introduced a new User Management system that gives organizations more control over how their employees access the Simcom platform. This feature allows companies to handle their own user administration, which creates a faster and more flexible experience while reducing the amount of routine support required from Computrol.

A New Approach to User Control

The User Management system is built around two key roles that determine who can perform administrative tasks within a company. These roles are Company Admins and Power Users. They provide a structured and secure way for organizations to manage their users.

The Role of the Company Admin

Every Company begins with at least one Company Admin, created during onboarding. The Company Admin has the highest level of control within the User Management system. This person can add users, edit user information, assign roles and permissions, suspend accounts and reinstate access when needed. A company Admin can also view every user within the company, which ensures complete visibility and oversight.

This role creates a central point of control for the organization’s use of Simcom and removes the need for routine support requests . Companies are now able to make changes immediately rather than waiting for a support response.

The Purpose of the Power User

Power Users offer a helpful middle level of administration. They can add users, update user details, disable accounts, and re-enable them when appropriate. They cannot see or manage Company Admin accounts, which protects sensitive administrative functions while still providing practical support for everyday operations.

This role is suited for managers or team leads who need the ability to assist with user administration without holding full administrative authority.

Benefits for Customers

The introduction of the User Management system allows customers to manage access to Simcom in a more efficient manner. Companies can onboard users more quickly, update information instantly, and respond to internal needs without contacting support. This shift creates a smoother and more responsive experience for everyone using the platform.

A More Efficient and Empowered System

Simcom’s User Management system creates a stronger and more efficient foundation for managing access across an organization. Companies gain more autonomy, Support teams handle fewer routine tasks, and the overall experience becomes faster and more secure. By giving customers direct control of their users, Simcom supports a modern, flexible approach to software administration that benefits everyone involved.
